Elderly Care
The elderly, or those who are 60 years old and above are given special attention by the church. We do not want them to feel that they are alone, or to lose hope. Support for the elderly was started by the former parish priest Fr. Bernard, Sr. Emma and Sr. Sante Marie (Sisters of Providence), and church committee members in 1992. The elderly, the sick, those with disability and/or in prison are visited and taken cared of. It was one of the main outreach activities of the church. This still holds true today.
Support comes in many forms; rice allowance of 10 kg per month, money, various items and regular visits depending on the need. The elderly who cannot come to Sunday mass are also visited and given for prayers and communion. They are visited by one of our own church committee members. Currently, most of the elderly people we help are from Prek Kahn Chreang Village, Sva Chum Village, those in the hospitals, and also from the surrounding areas. |
