Football
Training is also given to interested people who want to become coaches and referees. One such seminar was the Sports Leadership Coaching and Referee Law Training (SLeCoRT) held last 2011.

Football is a well-loved sport in Cambodia. As early as 2004, groups in the church community have gathered to play football in friendly matches. In July 2010, a Bishop Cup was organized where teams from inside and outside the church played against each other. The following year, a Football Committee was formed and a coordinator was identified. The committee was tasked with planning, organizing events and maintaining the playing field.
Currently, there are a total of 6 teams composed of church community members; the Catholic group breaks off into smaller groups per age (15-17, 12-14, 11 and under). There are also teams composed of student players from the Msgr. Tep Im Student Center and the Paristhan (Environment) Team composed of Pastoral Center staff and other volunteers. These groups participate in several matches in a year like in the Bishop Cup (held in July each year), the Battambang Prefecture Football Match and the Battambang City Tournament where the Catholic team plays against other groups based elsewhere in the city. |
