Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP)
|
Every weekend, members of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) society gather on church grounds for outreach activities. This group serves the Battambang parish and was formed in 2004 through the inspiration of Sr. Mercy and Sr. Eulie of the Daughters of Charity (D.C.).
SSVP members visit the poor, elderly, and the sick; to distribute food, assistance or supplies, go to villages to teach basic literacy in English or Khmer, build or repair houses, and others. A youth leader coordinates the outreach activities every sunday afternoon. Most of the outreach areas are located in O Kambot Village, and previously in the villages of Ondong Chang, Kdol and Romcheck 1. Skills training seminars and faith formation discussions are also conducted across the year to deepen the faith and engagement of those involved. |
