On Sunday, 08 July 2012 Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Battambang celebrated the culmination of classes for Catechism students for this year (2011-2012). They studied for nine months from October to July. This year there was a total of 200 students; 93 boys and 107 girls who studied under 18 teachers. During the celebration there was also a trivia game where various questions about passages from the bible, sacraments and other general knowledge about the Catholic faith.
Earlier this year, we had 19 students who had their first communion, 13 students who had their confirmation and 29 students who are undergoing the First Step to Baptism on the 15th of this month.

Fr. Totet Banaynal and Sr. Yawasang Lakana, who oversees the catechism classes in the parish presided over the event. Fr. Totet shared “I’m really happy that our catechism is growing here thanks to all the teachers that paid attention to the catechumens and who spends time teaching them every Sunday.”
Gifts were distributed to the students which was donated by donors from Japan.
